Simple trick to rotate dwg layouts in Evo

Sometimes dwg layouts contains the site oriented to other site elements or our target building is only a part of a bigger scenery and it's walls are not paralell to the vertical and horizontal axis in Dialux Evo. This case you have two option. Leave it as it is and build the model in the original orientation or try to rotate the drawing to get paralel walls, make it easy to upcoming processes.

Dialux Evo has a very good developed dwg layout positioning system which includes the rotation of the drawing as well. You can find it on the positioning panel on Drawings tab.

You can set rotation values in degrees but usually it is not so simple to tell the exact rotation value to get paralell edges. The following example is an outdoor facade lighting project where I have already built the buildings but the drawing which includes the road between the buildings has very different orientation. The narrow road between the two wider shoud be between the buildings, so I have to rotate the drawing and after moving it to the right position.

At first sight it looks 45° but it isn't... Maybe I could calculate some triginometrical equations to get the exact value but there is a more simple solution, let say trick...

Swithc to Reference lines...

... and select 'draw reference line'. Insert a reference line exactly to the line which you would like to have paralell to any of the axes after the rotation. Before you click on the ending point you will see the angle of your reference line to the horizontal and vertical axes. In the present example it is 32.6° to the horizontal axis and 57.4° to the vertival axis.

I'd like to see this road paralell to the horizontal axis so I will set the dwg drawing's rotation to 32.6°. Back to Drawings tab and set the rotation. The positive rotating direction in Dialux Evo is counterclockwise therfore I have to set rotation to -32,6°.

By the way this trick works in case of 3D models and most of the cases, however it is not completely precise, because the rotation of reference lines - as well as dwg drawings - showed only with first decimals...
